LIEN PRIORITY

Mortgages, deeds of trust and other liens are claims against real property. Often, one property will have more than one lien against it. It thus becomes of critical importance to know which lien has priority, i.e. which lien will be paid first out of the value of the property, in the event of default and foreclosure. This section will discuss the basic rules of lien priority in California real estate law.
